"Mathematics for a sustainable future"

Theme

Transitions with respect to the usage and production of energy, water, healthcare, and food are needed for a sustainable future. For many of these transitions mathematical tools, simulations, and knowledge are required. This motivates the theme of ICIAM 2027: "Mathematics for a sustainable future"

Who should attend?

The ICIAM 2027 congress welcomes applied and industrial mathematicians from academia, research laboratories and industry. The congress can also be very beneficial for graduate students from master programs in applied mathematics, industrial mathematics, computational mathematics, and computational science and engineering.

Why the Netherlands?

The Netherlands has traditionally been strong in industrial mathematics, due to the presence of a number of large research laboratories of renowned international companies such as Unilever, Philips, ASML, Thales, Shell, and Tata Steel, and research institutes like TNO, CWI, ECN and many more. The 4TU Applied Mathematics Institute is a joint initiative of the individual mathematics departments of the four technical universities in The Netherlands which develops new mathematical methods in modeling, simulation, and optimization for real world processes in all key technology areas.
