Biography Lei Zhang

Lei Zhang is Boya Distinguished Professor at Beijing International Center for Mathematical Research, Peking University. He is also an affiliated with Center for Quantitative Biology and Center for Machine Learning Research at Peking University. He obtained his Ph.D in Mathematics at Penn State University in 2009.

Lei Zhang’s research area is computational and applied mathematics, interdisciplinary science in material and biology, including rare events and solution landscape, nucleation and phase transition, computational systems biology. He has published over 80 papers in PRL, PNAS, Acta Numerica, SIAM journals, Cell Systems, Science Advances, etc. Lei Zhang was awarded/funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Innovation Research Group, NSFC Outstanding Youth Award, National Key Research and Development Program of China, NSFC Excellent Youth Award, Royal Society Newton Advanced Fellowship, etc. He was a plenary speaker at International Conference on Scientific Computation and Differential Equations (SciCADE) 2024, the 22nd Annual Conference of China Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, the 15th International Conference on Computational Systems Biology, etc. He is an Associate Editor of several journals, including SIAM J. Appl. Math, Science China Mathematics, CSIAM Trans. Appl. Math, etc.
