Biography Paola F. Antonietti
Professor Paola F. Antonietti is Full Professor of Numerical Analysis and Head of MOX – the Laboratory of Modelling and Scientific Computing at the Department of Mathematics, Politecnico di Milano. Her research focuses on advanced discretisation methods for partial differential equations and computational learning techniques, with applications in computational neurosciences, engineering seismology, and sustainable subsurface flow simulations. Professor Antonietti has authored over 120 research publications, serves on numerous editorial boards, and actively participates in many scientific committees. She has been invited to present her research at various international conferences, including the 9th European Congress of Mathematics in Seville, Spain. In recognition of her significant contributions to applied mathematics and computational sciences, she received the Jacques-Louis Lions Award from the European Community on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences (ECCOMAS) in 2020 and the SIMAI 2015 Prize from the Italian Society for Industrial Applications of Mathematics. Her work has been funded by several grants, including a Scientific Independence of Young Researchers (SIR) starting grant from the Italian Ministry of Universities and Research in 2015. In 2023, she was awarded the ERC Synergy Grant “NEMESIS: New generation methods for numerical simulations,” funded by the European Union.
