Biography Tiago Pereira
Tiago Pereira is Professor of Mathematics at the University of São Paulo (ICMC-USP) and holds honorary positions at Imperial College London and the Weierstrass Institute in Berlin. His research focuses on dynamical systems and complex networks, with recent advances on learning dynamics from data, predicting critical transitions, and uncovering higher-order (hypernetwork) interactions. Pereira has received international recognition, including the Marie Curie Fellowship, Leverhulme and Newton Advanced Fellowships, the Bessel Award of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, the Johannes Kepler Prize, and the Marguerite Frank Award. He is the principal investigator of multiple international collaborations, such as the FAPESP-UKRI project on predicting transitions in complex dynamical networks, and has been active in fostering exchange between mathematics and applications, ranging from physics and biology to social systems. Pereira received the USP Social Impact Prize for his outreach initiatives that open pathways for underprivileged students into leading universities. His mentorship has led to remarkable student achievements, including two awards for the best PhD thesis in mathematics in Brazil and international recognition at the highest level.
